Big Bash League 2023: The England and Wales Cricket Board was the first one to come with a cricket format that included a reduced number of overs rather than the original 50 overs. The game not only finishes faster but the idea of a smaller number of balls gives a brand-new thrill to the batsmen and players alike. As the success of the Twenty20 format was identified, the other boards immediately saw it as an opportunity. This idea eventually gained so much love that a new T20 World Cup was announced.
The Big Bash League (BBL) is not only designed for men but also women. There are 8 teams within the country who compete with each other namely Melbourne Stars, Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Renegades, Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Thunder, Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes. There are also women cricket teams who play the T20 matches together.
The BBL is organised by the Australian Professional Club and established in 2011 after the inspiration from the English and Wales board was achieved. Perth Scorchers is the most successful team and has successfully won the tournament 4 times in the past. Sean Abbott has taken the maximum number of wickets – 125 in the tournament and there are several formats in which the games are played. The tournament is very popular and there are several records and statistics that are made by the players over time.
