Bhubaneswar to Host IDCA T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf from September 25

The IDCA T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf will commence in Bhubaneswar on September 25, featuring 19 teams in a seven-day tournament, with prizes up for grabs.

Bhubaneswar, India, is set to be the vibrant host of the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf, starting on September 25. This exciting cricket tournament will witness the participation of 19 teams, and it will span across seven action-packed days.

The competing teams have been divided into four different groups, and they will engage in a total of 42 matches to secure their path to the ultimate showdown. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on October 1 at the East Coast Railway Sports Association Stadium.

The Odisha Deaf Cricket Association has the privilege of hosting this event, and matches will be contested on four distinct grounds scattered throughout the city of Bhubaneswar. The pinnacle of the tournament, the final match, will also be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The victors of this prestigious tournament will claim a substantial prize of Rs 1,00,000, while the runners-up will not leave empty-handed, receiving a prize of Rs 50,000. Additionally, individual sportsmen who excel in categories such as batting, bowling, fielding, super sixes, and others will each be awarded Rs 5,000. Players of the match will not be forgotten either, as they will receive Rs 2,100 as recognition for their outstanding contributions.

Sumit Jain, President of IDCA, expressed his optimism about the upcoming tournament, stating, “We hope that awareness continues to grow, inspiring more specially-abled young individuals to pursue sports as a career option. Sports is not just about physical prowess and skill; it is also a powerful medium for self-expression. Together, we can contribute to a world where everyone has the opportunity to shine.”

The culmination of this thrilling event will take place during the closing ceremony on October 1, where the triumphant team and standout players will be honored and celebrated for their exceptional performances.
