Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah, has commended the exceptional achievements of the Indian blind cricket teams, both men’s and women’s, as they secured impressive victories in the ongoing International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023.

Jay Shah took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his admiration, stating, “Celebrating remarkable victories by our Indian Blind Cricket teams at IBSA World Games 2023! The Women’s Team exhibited incredible skill by defeating England, while the Men’s Team made a triumphant comeback against Australia. Your outstanding performances radiate hope and inspire us all. Congratulations to both teams for spreading positivity and making our nation proud! @blind_cricket.”

Despite a loss to Pakistan in their first match, the Indian men’s team displayed resilience by defeating Australia in a subsequent match. On the other hand, the women’s team has maintained an unbeaten streak, securing victories in both of their matches in the ongoing event.

Looking ahead, the men’s team is scheduled to face England on Tuesday, while the women’s team is set to meet Australia on Wednesday in the IBSA World Games 2023 in Birmingham.

The initiation of blind cricket within the IBSA World Games featured the inaugural match between England and Australia, marking a significant milestone as the first-ever cricket match hosted by the World Games.
