Meanwhile, there is an uproar in Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has suspended head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. This news was announced by BCB President Faruk Ahmed on Tuesday, 15 October.
This is why Bangladesh coach Hathurusingha was suspended
According to several media reports, Bangladesh Coach Chandika Hathurusingha slapped a Bangladesh cricketer during the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, which is said to be the main reason for his suspension. Hathurusingha will be removed from his contract after the suspension period is over. Let us tell you, that during Hathurusingha’s tenure, Bangladesh’s performance was disappointing in both the ODI World Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup 2024.

Apart from this, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Phil Simmons as the interim coach of the team. He will take charge for the matches against South Africa, UAE, West Indies, and the Champions Trophy.
We have sent a notice to Hathurusingha today – BCB President
According to The Daily Star, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Faruk Ahmed said,
We have sent a notice to him [Hathurusingha] today and suspended him from the post of head coach. We have decided to appoint an interim head coach for South Africa, UAE, West Indies, and ICC Champions Trophy. Hathurusingha has been asked to respond to the notice within 48 hours and his suspension will come into effect immediately. After that his contract was suspended, and Phil Simmons was appointed as the new interim head coach. He will work till the Champions Trophy.
