With this victory, West Indies has strengthened its chances of reaching the semi-finals.
West Indies defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets with 43 balls to spare in the Group B match of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday with the charismatic bowling of off-spinner Karishma Ramhairak (four wickets for 17 runs) and the strong performance of the batsmen. This is West Indies’ second consecutive victory, with which it has reached the top of Group B with four points on the basis of a net run rate of 1.708. This has strengthened its chances of reaching the semi-finals.

With this defeat, Bangladesh’s net run rate became -0.835. After being invited to bat, Bangladesh’s team could score only 103 runs for eight wickets. West Indies won by scoring 104 runs for two wickets in 12.5 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews was the top scorer for West Indies by scoring 34 runs in 22 balls. Stephanie Taylor scored 27 runs before retiring hurt and Shamaine Campbell scored 21 runs.

Deandra Dottin scored an unbeaten 19 runs in seven balls with two sixes and a four. Deandra took West Indies to the target by hitting two towering sixes in the 13th over.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s batting unit failed to score runs in this match as well like the last two matches, in which captain Nigar Sultana was the top scorer scoring 39 runs. Apart from her, Dilara Akhtar contributed 19 runs. Shobhana Mostari was out after scoring 16 runs. Apart from Karishma, Afy Fletcher took two wickets for 25 runs for West Indies. Captain Hayley Matthews got one wicket.
Karishma Ramhairak thrashed Bangladesh (BAN W vs WI W)
Captain Mathews won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat and her bowler Karishma gave a good start by taking one wicket each in her two overs. After getting Bangladesh opener Sathi Rani stumped out, Karishma bowled out Dilara Akhtar (19 runs) due to which two wickets fell for 33 runs. Shobhana and Sultana shared 40 runs for the third wicket and took the score to 73 runs.

Then Karishma got Shobhana stumped by the wicketkeeper. Taj Nahar and Shorna Akhtar returned to the pavilion as soon as they came, which resulted in the score of 75 runs for five wickets. Ritu Moni (10 runs) became the fourth victim of Karishma. In the last over, West Indies captain Mathews got Bangladesh captain Nigar out, and Fahima Khatun was run out. Only nine fours were hit in Bangladesh’s innings.
