Babar and Rizwan become first cricketers to join Harvard

Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan Join Harvard Business School’s BEMS Program. Breaking cricket records and exploring the business of sports.

Babar Azam, the Pakistan Test team’s captain, and Mohammad Rizwan, the team’s vice-captain, have now joined Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Programme on The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS), breaking numerous records in the sport of cricket.

The Pakistan Cricket Board in a Press Release said, “The world number one ranked ODI batter and Captain of the Pakistan cricket team Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan, the Vice Captain of the Pakistan Test cricket team, are the first cricketers to join the Harvard Business School’s executive education program, on The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS), with their mentor, the Saya Corporation Founder and CEO, Talha Rehmani.”

Babar and Rizwan will join a long list of famous people and elite athletes who have taken part in the prestigious programme, including Kaka, Edwin van der Sar, Gerard Piqué, Oliver Kahn, Brandon Marshall of the NFL, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat in the NBA, Channing Tatum and LL Cool J from Hollywood, Alex Rodriguez of Major League Baseball, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul, and Pau Gasol of the NBA.

The course will be held at Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts, from May 31 to June 3. After the programme, till June 13, they will participate in a variety of community events in the US. Both cricket players were extremely enthusiastic and excited about the chance.

The top-ranked ODI batter on his inclusion said that he is a lifelong learner and has had detailed chats with Prof. Elberse and Talha Rehmani. Babar further said, “My inspiration for joining this world-class programme at Harvard is to connect, explore, listen, learn, grow, and give back to the community worldwide.”

Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter said that it is an honour to represent Pakistan on such a big stage. Rizwan added, “We are going to the BEMS programme at Harvard to learn from the best of the best in the world — both in terms of faculty and programme fellows — and at the same time to share our journey and learnings with everyone.”
