The young Pakistan left arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out from the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to the vicious knee ligament injury. Another young gun Mohammed Hasnain is selected as the replacement for injured Afridi by the PCB. Hasnain will have a golden opportunity to prove his mettle for the Pakistan side in the very first match of the tournament, where the Babar Azam leading team will lock horns with their arch nemesis.
The missed out of Shaheen shah Afridi could prove costly for the Pakistan side as the 21-year old pacer produced a phenomenal spell against India when these two teams contended against each other in the T20 World Cup 2021. Top order batters of India KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli get hunted by the lethal bowling of Shaheen Afridi, so his missed out will be a biggest advantage for the Indian team.
On the other hand, Mohammed Hasnain is a right arm fast bowler of Pakistan who has played 18 T20I matches for the team in which clinched out 21 wickets with a fabulous economy of 7.09. These impressive numbers along with the lethal pace which he brings to the table are the actual reasons behind his selection in the vacant spot of Afridi.
It will be an interesting thing to see how a similar sort of bowler can bring the actual touch of Afridi in this upcoming Asia Cup. Also, Haris Rauf, another pacer of the team, will have a great responsibility on his shoulders in the absence of Shaheen Afridi.
The other weak teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan would not be a great concern for Pakistan side but the challenge of India could be the moment where they will remember the presence of Afridi
