Ashes 20225-26, the first match will be held in Perth Australia.
Ashes 2025-26 schedule, date and venue
Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the schedule for Ashes 2025-26. The first match of the five-match Test series will be played in Perth from 21 to 25 November, while the only day-night Test match of the series will be held in Brisbane. This will be the second match of the series, which will be held between 4 to 8 December.
The third match of the series will be played in Adelaide from 17 to 21 December, while Melbourne will host the traditional Boxing Day Test from 26 to 30 December. The final Test match of the series will be held in Sydney as the New Year Test from 4 to 8 January.
Previously, the day-night Test was traditionally held in Adelaide, where the 2017-18 and 2021-22 Ashes Pink Ball Tests were played, but now it will be played in Brisbane. While Brisbane used to host the first match of the series, it will now start from Perth. This will be the first time since 1982-83 that the first match of the Ashes will be played in Perth instead of Brisbane.
The Pink Ball Dilemma for Ashes 2025-26
The Gabba, Brisbane has previously hosted three day-night Tests, and a day-night Test match was also held against the West Indies earlier this year. However, Australia’s bowlers then believed that the pink-ball Test should be held at the Adelaide Oval instead of the Gabba, where the pitch is more suitable for the pink ball. On several occasions in the past, it has happened at the Gabba that the pink ball has become too soft, which also affected the result of the match.
