Following India’s thrilling victory in the fifth T20I against Australia, left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh revealed his roller-coaster of emotions during the match. Initially, he felt the weight of conceding too many runs, contemplating being the game’s culprit. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Arshdeep redeemed himself by conceding only three runs in the final over, securing India’s win by six runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday night.

The pitch posed challenges for stroke play as India posted 160/8, and Australia, despite a strong start, found themselves at 144/7 in 18 overs. Mukesh Kumar’s disciplined 19th over set the stage for Arshdeep’s heroics in the final over, where he dismissed Matthew Wade and tilted the game in India’s favor.

Arshdeep, reflecting on his performance, stated, “For almost the first 19 overs, I was thinking that I gave away too many runs and would be the culprit of the game. But god gave me another chance, and I believed in myself.” He credited the batters for the extra runs cushion and expressed gratitude to the team for their belief in him.

Acknowledging that the Indian fast-bowling unit fell short of their standards, Arshdeep emphasized the lessons learned and pledged to rectify mistakes for future games. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, whose crucial innings contributed to India’s winning total, praised Arshdeep’s composure in the final over and recognized the challenging nature of the pitch.

Iyer shared, “To be honest, my mindset was to go boom-boom from ball one. But when I saw three wickets falling, my mind started calculating what would be the best total on this wicket.” He highlighted the team’s commendable effort in reaching and defending a total of 160 on a tricky wicket, showcasing their resilience and cohesive performance.
