“Test Cricket will die in next 15-20 yrs”: Ex-Pak spinner opens up on the future of Test Cricket

The former Pakistan off-spinner and the inventor of ‘Doosra’ bowl in cricket, Saqlain Mushtaq gave a bitter statement over the future of test cricket, a couple of months ago the discourse erupted over the restriction of test cricket in certain regions of the world. Many experts also said that the format must be banned completely now as the viewership and finance is almost nothing from there.

But the bazball playing style of England’s test team added spice into the boring format of test cricket and now the discourse has shifted to one day international format and now that same cricket experts are talking about reducing at least 10 overs in ODI cricket.

The legendary spinner of Pakistan Saqlain Mushtaq, put his opinion on the future of test cricket and he touched up on the shift of mindset which usually seem to be noted in the young generation that is coming in world cricket.

This same thing had been mentioned by the former England captain Kevin Pietersen when he was answering a question regarding the patience and persistence which young cricketers of today are slowly slowly losing from their arsenal. So while interacting with sportskeeda Saqlain Mushtaq said,”I feel even Test cricket will die in the next 15-20 years. With the younger generation and the mindset that they have, they will naturally want to play T20 cricket”.

Later he added, “Even with the financial side and time taken into consideration, T20 cricket ticks most boxes”.
