Australia Women’s team captain, Alyssa Healy, expressed immense joy on Wednesday over her husband Mitchell Starc’s groundbreaking deal in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction, labeling it an “incredible moment” and a “fantastic day.”
Leading the Women’s team in a multi-format series against India, Alyssa Healy addressed questions about the IPL auction in her pre-match press conference ahead of the only Test at the Wankhede starting Thursday.
Starc, picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for a record Rs 24.75 crore, became the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing the earlier record set by Pat Cummins. Healy, who humorously mentioned avoiding IPL-related questions, acknowledged the significance of Starc’s achievement.

“It’s an amazing moment for Mitch. I think it’s a great justification for the hard work that he’s put in and probably some of the choices that he’s made over the last eight years—to put his country first. So, yeah, a cool day,” remarked Healy.
Coming from a cricketing family, with her uncle Ian Healy having played for Australia, Healy emphasized that while the IPL buzz was around, she remained focused on her preparations, hitting the gym ahead of the series against India.
