The Arun Jaitley Stadium (the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium) is located in Delhi, and is one of the oldest cricket grounds in India, with a long and rich history in Indian cricket. This ground has been the home ground for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and has been the site of many significant cricketing events throughout its history.

At the age of 140, the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly known until 2019 as the Feroz Shah Kotla) is one of the oldest cricket stadiums in India. The stadium is operated and maintained by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) under the control of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

There have been many historical moments at this venue, including a remarkable performance by Anil Kumble who took all 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan on this field during a Test match in 1999. Many of the Indian teams’ greatest players have delivered outstanding performances at this venue.

Typically, the batting surface level at this sports venue is very suitable for players that hit with their bats but the level starts to support spinners as more time passes after the initial start of the game.

There have been many different seasons of IPL cricket at this venue and many runs have been scored in the games during those seasons. Additionally, dew has a major impact on the first teams that win the toss in night matches since the winning team will usually choose to put their opponents into bat.

Delhi Capitals’ Record at Arun Jaitley Stadium

Over the years, the DC have had some very exciting games at this venue, and there have been a number of exciting wins here as well. After starting out on an inconsistent basis, DC has improved dramatically in their play at this venue over the last couple of seasons.

They have competed in 88 matches at this venue to date, with wins in 36 matches and losses in 44. Additionally, one game was no result, and one game was tied.

In 2024 when they played the Mumbai Indians in this stadium, the Delhi Capitals posted 257 to register it as the highest score by this team at this ground and win the game by ten runs.

In contrast, the lowest score by the home team at this venue occurred during their attempt to chase down 213 runs, with the home team only scoring 66 runs against the Mumbai Indians in 2017.

Matches to be played in Delhi during IPL 2026

The Arun Jaitley Stadium will host many important matches in IPL 2027; once again offering an opportunity for fans to watch some exciting cricketing occasions when the Delhi Capitals are playing at home.

The current season has a number of scheduled games to take place at this venue. The match that will open the season’s play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected on 4th April with the Delhi Capitals against the Mumbai Indians.
