
Afghanistan cricket fans were in for a shock as their star player Ihsanullah Janat has been banned from all forms of cricket for five years as he has been accused of match-fixing. The news of the same was confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board via an official statement on Wednesday.
Ihsanullah Janat Banned For 5 Years For Match-Fixing
The ACB revealed that the batter breached ICC’s anti-corruption code during the second season of the Kabul Premier League this year. The statement read:

“Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match,” the ACB said in a statement.
“In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities.”
It has to be noted that Insanullah Janat is the younger brother of former Afghanistan cricket captain Nawroz Mangal.
The ACB is also investigating the other three players for their involvement in the match-fixing. The ACB said:
“Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt,”
Ihsanullah Janat Made His Last International Appearance In 2022
Talking about the career of Insanullah Janat, he has scored 72 runs in four games for Shamshad Eagles at the KPL as his team finished last in the six-team event with only one win in 5 games.
Janat has played three Test matches and 16 ODIs, so far. He has also featured in one T20I match against Zimbabwe in 2022 which was his last international appearance for Afghanistan.
His maiden international appearance came in the ODI format vs Zimbabwe in February 2017. On the other hand, he made his Test debut in March 2019 vs Ireland. Janat’s only T20I appearance was against Zimbabwe in June 2022.
This was also the last time Ihsanullah Janat made his last international appearance. Ihsanullah Jannat has some exceptional numbers in first-class cricket, amassing 1,568 runs in 19 games at an amazing average of 56.
