In a mid-season replacement, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have recruited Vidarbha left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey in place of the injured Smaran Ravichandran.
Interestingly, Ravichandran was himself replaced three weeks ago by Vidarbha left-arm spinner Smaran Ravichandran in place of Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Presently, Harsh Dubey replaces Adam Zampa, another change in SRH’s team in a disappointing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

The 22-year-old spinner hogged the limelight with his outstanding performance in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, taking 69 wickets—the most in a season ever. He surpassed the earlier record of 68 wickets held by Bihar’s Ashutosh Aman in 2018-19. His consistent performances were instrumental in Vidarbha’s robust domestic season.
SRH’s Situation and Dubey’s Inclusion
SRH, who are set to be eliminated this season, declared Dubey’s inclusion before facing Delhi Capitals in the 11th match. Due to injuries affecting their team and the absence of quality spinners, Dubey might be an asset in their ranks. Even so, it is not clear whether he will be inserted into the playing XI right away.

Whereas Adam Zampa’s replacement was originally Smaran Ravichandran, the latter’s unfortunate injury paved the way for the in-form Harsh Dubey. Picked up at his reserve price of Rs 30 lakh, Dubey is now an impact player candidate for SRH’s remaining fixtures.
