IPL 2025: AB de Villiers hopes RCB will win the trophy this year
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers believes that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) can finally win the IPL 2025 title. AB was one of the most loved players in IPL history and played for RCB from 2011 to 2021. He played many big innings for the team but never got the chance to lift the trophy.

When Virat Kohli was captain of RCB, AB de Villiers was a very important player. He helped the team reach the finals in 2011 and again in 2016. But both times, RCB lost and missed the chance to become champions. Even though AB gave his best every season, the IPL trophy always stayed out of reach.
Now in IPL 2025, Rajat Patidar is leading RCB, and the team has played very well. On May 29, they faced Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 and won the match easily. PBKS batted first and scored only 101 runs. RCB chased the target in just 10 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. This big win helped them reach the final of IPL 2025.
AB de Villiers is happy to see RCB in the final
During a chat with news agency ANI, AB said he is very happy that RCB has reached the final this year. He also said he is excited to watch Qualifier 2, where Mumbai Indians (MI) will play against PBKS. The team that wins that match will face RCB in the final.

AB said, “I’m really happy that RCB is in the final. MI won their last match, so Qualifier 2 between MI and Punjab will be a good game. Whoever plays better will face RCB in the final. I hope this is the year RCB finally wins the trophy.”

RCB’s bowlers did a great job in Qualifier 1. They bowled very well and stopped PBKS from scoring big runs. Later, their batsmen chased the small target easily and gave the team a big win.
IPL 2025 final will be on June 3
The final match of IPL 2025 will be played on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Before that, Qualifier 2 will be played on June 1 between MI and PBKS. MI reached Qualifier 2 after beating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs in the Eliminator on May 30.
