Malahide Cricket Club: The Biggest Cricket Stadium of Ireland

In this post, we shall look at Ireland’s largest cricket stadium and its history.

Cricket has been played in Ireland since at least the 17th century, when Oliver Cromwell issued an edict prohibiting sport. Although a recent study claims that Irish soldiers in the British Army influenced the game’s evolution by importing vocabulary and plays from the old Irish game of Catty, it is widely accepted that the British brought it to Ireland. The oldest documented reference of a game played in Dublin is a match between a British garrison and a “All-Ireland” team in August 1792; the garrison team won by an innings.

In this post, we shall look at Ireland’s largest cricket stadium and its history.
