A video of Gambhir’s response to the cheers from the crowd went viral on social media. The former KKR captain stopped briefly to thank the crowd before ascending the steps.

Gambhir and Kohli have previously engaged in physical altercation on the pitch during a game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 IPL. Videos of their prior altercation are still being shared on social media. Due to persistent rain, LSG’s IPL 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings ended in a draw. Fans and the media paid greater attention to the post-match brawl between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir during LSG’s last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
