Rohit Sharma Sets Unwanted IPL Record with Most Ducks in History

On Wednesday, May 3, at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings and the five-time champion Mumbai Indians squared off in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Punjab scored a staggering 214 runs after the first innings, and the five-time champions entered to try to match the enormous total. However, they had the worst possible start to the run chase when captain Rohit Sharma was removed by Rishi Dhawan after a duck. The third ball of the first over resulted in the senior Indian batsman being out.

Rohit Sharma’s elimination matched the IPL record for the most ducks by a batter. Rohit earned his name alongside players like Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh, and Sunil Narine, all of whom have also been dismissed on a duck 15 times, and is currently tied for first spot with 15 ducks.

The 36-year-old also broke the tournament record for the most single-digit scores. In the competition, the Mumbai captain has been dismissed 70 times with a score of one or fewer.
