Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), have had several remarkable comebacks over the years. Here are three instances when Mumbai Indians made second-half comebacks in the IPL:
IPL 2015 –
Mumbai Indians won the tournament in a stunning fashion after a slow start to the season. After the first half of the tournament, Mumbai Indians had won only four out of their first ten matches and were struggling to find their momentum. However, they made a spectacular turnaround in the second half, winning all their remaining matches. With a strong performance in the latter half of the tournament, Mumbai Indians qualified for the playoffs and eventually lifted the IPL trophy by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.
IPL 2017 –
Mumbai Indians had a shaky start to the 2017 season, losing four out of their first six matches. However, they regrouped in the second half and turned their fortunes around. Led by Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians won their next six matches in a row, securing a playoff spot. They continued their winning streak and clinched the IPL title by defeating Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling final.
IPL 2019 –
Mumbai Indians had a mixed start to the 2019 season, winning three out of their first six matches. However, they produced a remarkable comeback in the second half of the tournament. They won their last four matches in the league stage, finishing at the top of the points table. In the playoffs, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final to secure their fourth IPL title.
These are just a few examples of Mumbai Indians’ impressive comebacks in the IPL. The team has consistently shown resilience and the ability to bounce back from challenging situations, making them one of the most successful franchises in the tournament’s history.
