Faf du Plessis, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is on a roll with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Despite his injury, former South African captain Faf du Plessis is the current Orange Cap holder with over 400 runs in the IPL 2023.
With the 38-year-old injured and playing as a ‘Impact Player’ in recent games, Virat Kohli has taken over as RCB captain and is set to lead the side again in match No. 36 against Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Off the pitch, Du Plessis was spotted at the team hotel with Virat Kohli and his Bollywood celebrity wife Anushka Sharma. Anushka appears to have built a strong bond with Kohli’s RCB teammates, notably skipper Faf du Plessis.
Du Plessis took to Instagram Story on Tuesday and uploaded a lovely photo with Virat and Anushka. The three are dressed in green. “Team green,” wrote Du Plessis in the caption.
Kohli captioned the same photo, “Hahaha what are we called? The actress Anushka Sharma.” Anushka also joined the bandwagon, captioning her photo, “Band name – Fresh lime soda.”

On Sunday, RCB defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 runs thanks to half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, followed by a three-wicket haul from Harshal Patel.
RCB scored 189/9 thanks to Faf’s powerful 62 off 39 and Maxwell’s 77 off 44. Harshal Patel then returned to form with a key spell of 3/32, holding his composure in the final over and defending 20 to help RCB win the match. David Willey and Mohammed Siraj both took one wicket. On Wednesday, the RCB will face the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kohli stated prior to the previous game against the Rajathan Royals that the RCB team management informed him that he will be heading the club in the coming games. “They told me last time that I might have to captain a couple of games, which isn’t something I’m used to doing.” So I’m pleased to step in and continue what Faf has been doing,” Kohli said on Sunday.
