The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), two teams at opposing ends of the ladder, will meet in Match 29 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. According to the IPL schedule, the next game will be played on Friday, April 21 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
CSK is currently third in the IPL 2023 points table, having won three of their first five matches. They will enter tonight’s game fresh off a convincing away win against southern rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The Sunrisers, on the other hand, haven’t been consistent so far. They are eighth in the league with two victories in five games and a net run rate of -0.798. The team led by Aiden Markram will be looking for a victory. However, breaching CSK’s citadel will be difficult.
Every IPL game provides both participating teams with the opportunity to achieve a certain goal. As a result, some records are on the verge of being broken during the forthcoming game.
On that point, let’s look at the top three milestones that can be achieved in today’s CSK vs SRH match.
#1 MS Dhoni might become only the second player in CSK history to hit 4500 runs
MS Dhoni, a man identified with CSK, is another player who will be on the verge of reaching a landmark in tonight’s game at Chepauk.
Dhoni is the franchise’s second-highest run-getter, having amassed 4,463 runs at an average of 40.5 across 183 innings.
Another 37 runs would bring his total to 4,500, making him only the second cricketer after Suresh Raina (4,687) to do so for CSK.
#2 T Natarajan has a chance to become SRH’s fourth-highest wicket-taker all-time
T Natarajan’s deceptive bowling hasn’t set the world on fire so far in the competition. He is, though, a talented bowler who will try to add to his four wickets so far.
If the left-arm pacer has a good game and takes at least two wickets against CSK, he would surpass Sandeep Sharma’s 41 wickets and become SRH’s fourth-highest wicket-taker of all time.
Natarajan has 40 scalps for the Hyderabad team in 34 games.
#3 Ajinkya Rahan might complete 600 T20 fours
Ajinkya Rahane, one of the most underappreciated batters in IPL history, might reach a big personal milestone when he meets SRH on Friday.
Rahane has scored 5,769 runs in 220 T20 innings and has hit 598 fours in the shortest version of the game. Another two boundaries will bring the Mumbai-born boy to 600 T20 fours, making him only the eighth Indian batsman to do so.
Furthermore, 443 of his 598 T20 fours came in the IPL. If Rahane hits seven boundaries against SRH, he will become only the seventh Indian hitter to hit 450 IPL fours.
