Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma Among cricketers who lose their Twitter blue ticks, here’s why

MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are a few of the people who lost their Twitter “blue tick.” Before Elon Musk implemented the new authentication mechanism, more than 300,000 Twitter users got a blue tick.

Twitter users observed a dramatic alteration in the accounts of three Indian cricketing stars on Friday morning: Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma. The validated Blue Ticks that had previously been assigned to these profiles have vanished. This modification is the result of Twitter’s new verification procedures, which force users to pay for verification rather than being confirmed based on Twitter’s criteria.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the only way to preserve the verified Blue Tick Mark on profiles is to subscribe to Twitter Blue. However, Kohli, Dhoni, and Sharma, along with a number of other Twitter users, have yet to sign up for the subscription service.

Twitter Blue is a paid subscription service that, among other things, provides a verified checkmark on users’ profiles. It is accessible via iOS and Android devices, as well as the Twitter website. In India, the monthly subscription rate is Rs 900 for iOS and Android users, Rs 650 for web users, and Rs 6,800 for an annual plan that is only available on the web. Previously, the checkmark was exclusively granted to verified accounts of renowned people, politicians, journalists, and public figures.

Twitter Blue users receive early access to features like as editing tweets, creating bookmark folders, customising app icons and NFT profile photographs, and choosing different colour schemes for their app. They can also prioritise their tweet answers and undo tweets before other users see them. Twitter Blue members have a character limit of 4,000 and can submit movies up to 60 minutes long or 2 GB in size, whilst regular users are limited to 280 characters.

Twitter Blue costs $11 a month on Android and iOS devices and $8 on the web in the United States. In the United States, the annual plan costs $84 per year. With the introduction of Twitter Blue, anyone may now purchase the verified checkmark by paying a subscription fee.
