VVS Laxman has been named India’s head coach for the Zimbabwe tour, according to Jay Shah

The National Cricket Academy’s VVS Laxman will serve as interim head coach for India’s next trip to Zimbabwe, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

National Cricket Academy head VVS Laxman will serve as India’s acting head coach for the next tour of Zimbabwe due to the short turnaround between the series and the Asia Cup, which begins on August 27 in the UAE, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Friday. “Yes, VVS Laxman will lead India in the three-match One-Day International series in Zimbabwe.” Rahul Dravid is not taking a break. Dravid and the Indian team will arrive in the UAE on August 23, following the conclusion of the ODI series in Zimbabwe on August 22. Because of the short time span between the two events, Laxman will captain the Indian squad in Zimbabwe. BCCI secretary Shah briefed reporters on Friday.

“Given that only KL and Hooda are with the ODI team in Zimbabwe, it was only reasonable for the head coach to be with the T20 squad.”

Zimbabwe’s three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) will be played in Harare on August 18, 20, and 22.

According to Shah, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda would also fly directly from Dubai to Harare as part of the Asia Cup team.

The chairman of the NCA has historically managed the BCCI’s second string or A teams. As a result, Laxman will remain with the Indian squad while the first team is abroad on assignment.

Laxman was with the T20 squad in Ireland during the Indian team’s visit to the UK in June-July, while Dravid was with the Test squad in England.

After recuperating from sports hernia surgery, KL Rahul has rejoined the national team.

He was not supposed to be a member of the Zimbabwe squad at first, but because the medical staff determined he was healthy, he will be with the team for the three ODIs, which will be excellent preparation for the Asia Cup.
