Pakistan Super League: Peshawar Zalmi Team Profile, Overview, Achievements and Squad

The Peshawar Zalmi Team, a professional cricket team representing Pakistan, plays their home games in Peshawar. The team’s chairman, Javed Afridi, founded the organisation in 2015. The Pakistan Cricket Board hosts the PSL, a Twenty20 cricket competition in which the team competes (PCB). The Peshawar Zalmi are a professional cricket team from the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Super Competition (PSL), founded in Lahore in 2016, is a franchise Twenty20 cricket competition in which the team competes. Peshawar Zalmi emerged into the spotlight with a roster full of international talents, including Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, and Kamran Akmal, when the 2016 PSL season began.

The club won the championship that year under Darren Sammy’s leadership, and Sammy was named Player of the Series for his superb batting. Darren Sammy, a well-known cricketer, has announced his retirement from international competition after representing the West Indies in two World Cups. In 2016, he joined the Peshawar Zalmi and was elected captain the following year; his side won the PSL championship in 2017. He left to play in a different league with the St. Lucia Stars in 2018. And Wahab Riaz, who has been with the Peshawar Zalmi since its inception and prospered as both captain and batsman, has been there from the start.

The Peshawar Zalmi cricket team, which participates in Pakistan’s top competition, the Pakistan Super League, has a large fan base (PSL). This organisation was founded in 2015 by Javed Afridi, a Pakistani businessman. Peshawar Zalmi have only won the PSL once, in 2017, and have finished second in 2018, 2019, and 2021.

Haier Pakistan is the title sponsor of Peshawar Zalmi. The Haier logo appears on the front chest of the Peshawar Zalmi’s game and practise jerseys. TCL has been a team sponsor since 2019, and the company’s emblem can be seen on the back of the club’s game and practise T-shirts. As of 2018, McDonald’s Pakistan is the team’s official hospitality partner. The Zalmi jersey features its logo on the sleeves. In addition, Turkish Airlines, a major airline, has signed a memorandum of understanding to become the team’s official airline partner. The team’s crest appears on the shirt’s sleeve. With a focus towards 2020, Huawei signed on as the Peshawar Zalmi’s exclusive sponsor. The company’s logo is prominently displayed on the left chest of the jersey.

Peshawar Zalmi Achievements:

• Under Darren Sammy’s leadership, they have one PSL championship and three runner-up results. Furthermore, they have never lost four consecutive PSL playoff games, creating a new record.
• Since 2019, Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings have played six Twenty20 matches, with the former winning all of them.
• Between 2016 and 2020, Kamran Akmal scored 1239 runs in 39 games, making him the most prolific run-scorer in terms of individual records.
• Over the last four years, Wahab Riaz has taken the most wickets by a bowler, 41 in 32 matches.
