Pakistan will face Ireland in their second encounter of the Women’s T20 World Cup. While Pakistan is still coming to grips with their six-ball loss to India, Ireland suffered a huge loss to England in the first game.
Pakistan vs Ireland Team Previews and Prediction
PAKISTAN WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL CRICKET TEAM:
Despite losing to India, Pakistan should feel satisfied of their performance because Bismah Maroof (68 runs from 55 deliveries) and Ayesha Naseem both performed amazing batsmanship (43 runs from 25 deliveries). They didn’t have much help from the other batsmen, but Pakistan will be a menace if Naseem and Maroof keep playing like this.
Pakistan’s bowling needs to improve significantly considering India only lost three wickets. With the exception of Nashra Sandhu (2/15), Pakistan did a good job of keeping the game close, but there was no one else to worry the Indian bats. They should, however, be more effective and progress from their previous game against Ireland.
Nida Dar and Fatima Sana have obviously fallen short of expectations and will be disappointed in themselves, but they can stage a return. Diana Baig, a rapid bowler, is also out due to injury, but the team must persevere.
Pakistan Women Playing 11: Bismah Maroof (c), Aliya Riaz, Aimen Anwar, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Javeria Khan, Muneeba Ali, Sadaf Shamas, Nashra Sandhu, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz, Tuba Hassan
IRELAND WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL CRICKET TEAM:
Ireland is not to be underestimated, especially after defeating Pakistan twice in a recent T20 series. Rebecca Stokell’s injury-related absence is the biggest news, although there are still a lot of talented athletes present.
Amy Hunter and Gaby Lewis are the batters to watch; Lewis is on a roll right now after hitting two major scores of 71 and 69* against Pakistan. Ireland would be in trouble if she fell early and didn’t have any help, despite being one of the top batters in the World Cup.
Pakistan should be able to handle whatever Ireland selects, however spinner Cara Murray, who took 3/15 against England, should be avoided. The bowling could be questionable.
Ireland Women Playing 11: Laura Delany (c), Georgina Dempsey, Amy Hunter, Shauna Kavanagh, Arlene Kelly, Gaby Lewis, Louise Little, Sophie MacMahon, Jane Maguire, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast, Eimear Richardson, Rebecca Stokell, Mary Waldron
