While Gayle is out of favour at global scale, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter is currently competing in the IPL, whilst the West Indian star has not competed since 2021.

Chris Gayle picked MS Dhoni as the most selfless player in IPL history

Chris Gayle and other experts were asked to select the most selfless cricketer in Indian Premier League history at a special chat with Jio Cinema ahead of the IPL 2023 season. Interestingly, Gayle, Anil Kumble, Scott Styris, and Robin Uthappa all chose Dhoni as the tournament’s most selfless player.

Dhoni is the only IPL 2008 captain who will lead a franchise in IPL 2023. Many supporters believe that the IPL 2023 would be the last time they see the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings on the pitch.

Dhoni has not formally announced his retirement, but he stated during the previous season that he would like to honour the fans by playing at different places in the IPL 2023 home and away format. CSK’s performance this year will be interesting to watch. They had a dismal performance in the IPL 2022, finishing ninth in the standings.
