
The Asian Cricket Council released the Asia Cup schedule on Tuesday, beginning on August 27. Earlier, it was confirmed that Sri Lanka will host the Asia Cup in the UAE. The competition was relocated from Sri Lanka due to the country’s continuing economic crisis. On August 28, the defending champions India will play their opening match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against archrivals Pakistan. On August 27, Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan in the tournament’s opening match, while the championship match will take place on September 11. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong will compete in a Qualifier to determine the sixth and final Asia Cup 2022 participant.
Six teams will be divided into two groups of three for the main tournament.
India and Pakistan are in Group A, with the remaining berth going to the qualification.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will compete for a spot in the Super 4 in Group.
The Asia Cup will be contested in T20 format this year.
