Team India defeated New Zealand by six wickets in the second Twenty20 International in Lucknow on Sunday, tying the three-match series at 1-1. The game turned out to be a low-scoring thriller as both teams failed to put up a solid batting display. When asked to bowl first, Hardik Pandya’s team reduced NZ to 99/8 in 20 overs. Team India, however, lost some wickets in the chase, but Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings and guided Team India to victory with one ball remaining. The final T20I in Ahmedabad on Wednesday will determine the outcome of the three-match series. In the second match, Team India’s top-order failed badly to score a significant total. This might pave the way for batter Prithvi Shaw in playing XI.
Here’s our predicted India XI for the third T20I:
Prithvi Shaw: After Shubman Gill failed to impress in the first two matches, the management may give Prithvi Shaw a shot in the third T20I. The 23-year-old hitter, who played his last international match in 2021, had a stellar domestic season this year.
Ishan Kishan: The wicketkeeper-batter struggled again in the second T20I, being dismissed for 19 off 32 balls. In the third bout, he will try to redeem himself.
Suryakumar Yadav: The great batter came through as a lifesaver for India, remaining unbeaten at 26 to help the hosts win the second match. He will now be looking for a larger innings in the third T20I.
Rahul Tripathi: After being out for a duck in the first T20I, Tripathi went out for 13 in the second. The 31-year-old batsman must perform admirably in the upcoming encounter.
Hardik Pandya: The skipper took one wicket and allowed 25 runs in four overs. Later, he formed a match-winning combination with Suryakumar Yadav, in which he scored 15* runs.
Deepak Hooda: The right-handed hitter did not bat in the second T20I, but he bowled well. He took one wicket and surrendered only 17 runs in his four overs.
Washington Sundar: In three overs, the all-rounder conceded 17 runs and took one wicket. Aside from that, he scored 10 runs before being run out.
Kuldeep Yadav: The left-arm wrist spinner performed admirably, taking one wicket and allowing only 17 runs in four overs.
Arshdeep Singh: After a dismal outing in the first T20I, the young Indian bowler redeemed himself in the second encounter, scalping two wickets and conceding only 7 runs in two overs.
Shivam Mavi: The right-handed pacer went wicketless and was costly, giving out 11 runs in one over.
Yuzvendra Chahal: The veteran spinner took over for Umran Malik and bolstered India’s spin assault. Chahal bowled two overs in the second T20I, allowing only four runs and taking two wickets.
