Ireland Cricket Team Records and Statistics: Best ODI Results Made by the Team

Internationally, Ireland is represented by the cricket team. The organization in charge of managing the sport in Ireland is the Irish Cricket Union, which also runs the international team known as Cricket Ireland.

Test, ODI, and T20 International are the three main international sports in which Ireland participates. When they were given Test status alongside Afghanistan on June 22, 2017, they became the 11th Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the second Full Member from Europe. Introduction

One Day International (ODI) matches feature international cricket teams that are Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well as the top four Associate members. Unlike test matches, which have a cap of 50 overs each inning, one inning is played for each team in one-day international matches (ODIs). The statistics and records set in the ODI match also count toward List-A records because ODI cricket is List-A cricket. Since the inaugural game between England and Australia that was formally recognized as an ODI in January 1971, more than 4,000 ODIs have been played by 28 teams. Below is a list of Ireland’s cricket team’s One Day International winning percentages. The following list of One Day International records in cricket solely includes accomplishments involving the Irish cricket team.

Paul Stirling

He represented Ireland at the 2009 World Twenty20 in England. He made a three-year commitment to Middlesex in December of that same year. The next year, against Canada in Toronto, he achieved the highest ODI score by an Irishman—a 134-ball 177 for Ireland—further showcasing his prowess.

Paul Stirling has a long history of being regarded as a dominant cricketing talent, both in Ireland and overseas. Before turning 23, he had a century against Pakistan in two ODIs. Stirling’s natural swagger, belligerence, and big stature have led to comparisons to Jesse Ryder. With what seems to be little effort, he generates a lot of power and excels at launching the ball straight or dragging it over midwicket.

Ed Joyce

Ed Joyce is most known for playing as a batsman for Ireland and another country in consecutive World Cups. When the 2007 World Cup was staged, Joyce switched to England and became the first Irish player to play for England in the modern era after leading Ireland through the qualifying round. He did not quite have the career he had hoped for, though, and he arrived back in Ireland only in time for the 2011 competition. He hadn’t quite reached the four-year qualification period, but the ICC still granted him exceptional dispensation in light of his strong case.

Andrew Balbirnie

Andrew Balbirnie, who was already one of Ireland’s finest batters at No. 3, improved even more with the bat after being elected captain across all formats in the latter part of 2019. Balbirnie is quick, keeps the score moving, and is excellent against spin bowling despite his lack of power; his strong sweep is a signature technique.

O’Brien, Kevin

Kevin O’Brien established his status as an Irish cricket legend with remarkable innings against England on a sweltering March evening in Bangalore. He had the quickest 50-ball century in World Cup history when his side entered the action, with his team at 106-4 and then 111-5 in pursuit of England’s 327. The century included six massive sixes.

William Porterfield

William Porterfield has played an almost consistent role in Ireland’s rise in international cricket while other players like Morgan, Joyce, and Rankin have dabbled in England. He is now the leading run-scorer in both ODI and T20I cricket, and he is on pace to become his country’s first Test captain.

Andrew Balbirnie

At the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, Ireland’s Under-19 squad skipper and excellent middle-order batsman Andrew Balbirnie struggled miserably, scoring just 31 runs in five games. Before that, he advanced through age-group cricket. He later competed for Ireland in Division One, when they won the 2010 ICC World Cricket League.
