The second season (SPL Season 2) of the SPL, an initiative launched to connect Indian youth with Sanatan culture through the popular sport of cricket, is set to begin soon. This tournament is unique in that it allocates ₹500 to social service for each run scored, making it the only one of its kind in India and globally.
This tournament, held under the patronage of Pandit Devkinandan Thakur, is expected to be bigger than ever. As a result, the announcement of the start of the second season has sparked tremendous excitement among young players.
Founder Vijay Sharma provides a major update on SPL Season 2 preparations.
Speaking with the Sports Digest team, SPL founder Vijay Sharma stated that plans are underway to make the second season bigger, more organized, and more exciting than the first. He stated that a critical meeting on this matter was held with Operations Executive Somendra Tiwari, core committee member Vinay Singh, and Cricket Operations Manager Sanjeev Mishra.
The meeting included in-depth discussions about various important aspects of organizing SPL Season 2. This time around, the league will see significant changes, new initiatives, and improved opportunities for players. Furthermore, new arrangements are being made to improve the tournament, ensuring an even more spectacular experience for cricket fans.
Sharma also revealed that the prize money for this season may be higher than before. Furthermore, plans are in place to devote a larger sum to social service activities than in the previous season.
Star cricketers gathered on the final day of SPL 2026
Several star players graced the event with their presence on the final day of the inaugural SPL season. Prior to the final match, a ‘Unity Match’ was played between Maharaj XI and Legends XI.
Former Indian cricketers such as Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla, Praveen Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Pankaj Singh, and Sunny Katiyal were seen representing Legends XI in this match. Prominent spiritual storytellers like Pandit Devkinandan Thakur, Chinmayanand Bapu, and Indresh Ji Maharaj were part of the ‘Maharaj XI’ team.
In this match, Suresh Raina’s team failed to defend a target of 90 runs and suffered a defeat.
Rajasthan Maharana Pratap Ranbankure emerged as the SPL Season 1 champions
In the final match of the inaugural SPL season held in Indore, Rajasthan Maharana Pratap Ranbankure clinched the title by defeating Madhya Pradesh Ahilyabai Guardians. Batting first, the Rajasthan team led by Laxmi Narayan scored 73 runs.
Chasing a target of 74 runs, the Madhya Pradesh team could only manage 39 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 10 overs, resulting in a 34-run defeat. Rajasthan’s Rakesh Prajapati was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his magnificent innings of 52 runs off 27 balls in the final.
Players and teams received substantial prize money
Players and teams were awarded significant prize money during the first season of the SPL. The winning team received ₹31 lakh, while the runners-up were awarded ₹15 lakh.
Additionally, the players who scored the most runs and took the most wickets throughout the season were gifted motorcycles, while the ‘Player of the Tournament’ received a car as a prize.
Financial aid provided to organizations and the needy for social service
Following the conclusion of the final match of the first season, financial assistance was provided to various organizations and needy individuals for social service. The tournament’s patron, Pandit Devkinandan Thakur, had pledged to donate ₹500 for every run scored towards social service; under this initiative, aid amounting to approximately ₹20 lakh was distributed. Under this initiative, cheques were presented as follows: ₹12 lakh to the Sanatan Nyas Foundation; ₹7.51 lakh to the Swami Swarupanand Charitable Trust for hospital construction; ₹1 lakh to Anika Sharma, a three-year-old girl battling the rare disease SMA Type 2; ₹1 lakh each to the wives of three soldiers martyred in the service of the nation; ₹2.51 lakh to the Chhanv Foundation to assist acid attack survivors; and ₹2.51 lakh for other social service activities.
Now, the second season of the SPL is set to be organized on a grand scale. It will be interesting to see how magnificent the tournament turns out to be this time and what significant social service initiatives emerge from it.
