ICC Team Rankings: India Dominates The List

ICC Team Rankings: In the minds of fans, Team India’s recent success is still young. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title for the second year in a row a little over two months ago.

After this historic achievement, the ICC updated its annual rankings, which find Team India holding the first place again.

What Changes Have Occurred in the New Rankings?

On an annual basis on May 1, each year, the International Cricket Council data its ranking systems in all formats of cricket. While points from past games are removed over time, current and recent games will continue to receive more points by being weighted more heavily than those played a longer time ago.

The re-ranking procedure will factor in every international cricket match played in either an international cricket format (ODI & T20I) for the International Cricket Season ending on April 30, 2023.

All international cricket matches played from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2023, will be scored 100% in this re-ranking procedure.

However, international cricket matches played during 2 years prior (May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024 and from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025) will be scored at only 50% in the re-ranking procedure. All matches that occurred prior to the very start of 2023 will no longer be included in the ranking data.

Team India Tops the New ICC Team Rankings

In the latest ranking update from the ICC (International Cricket Council) released Tuesday, May 5, India are still holding down the number one spot with 275 total points due to their continued strong performance.

The England cricket team occupies the second spot; although they gained 1 point in this update, they still trail India by 13 points, standing at 262 points. Meanwhile, the Australia cricket team holds onto the third position with 258 points.
