Inia and New Zealand will go head-to-head in the final of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (March 8). Both teams will look to put their best foot forward in an attempt to come out on the right side of the result.

The Journey

If we talk about the road to finals for both teams, it hasn’t been a smooth ride, with India having to get out of different situations in the first stage and the Super Eight leg of the tournament as well. To add to that, they were almost beaten by England, and it took a special effort from the fast bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya to pull things in the team’s favour.

The Challenge

Despite making it to the final, the two sides have certain concerns that they need to address before the big game. For India, the form of Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy.

While Abhishek hasn’t really got going in the tournament, barring the scratchy half-century against Zimbabwe and would hope to make a decisive contribution in the title clash, Varun has looked off colour in the last few matches and was on the expensive side in the semifinal against England as well.

The captain and the coach would hope for both players to have a good outing in their respective departments in order to increase India’s chances of winning.

When it comes to New Zealand, the Kiwis might ponder bringing in Kyle Jamieson in place of James Neesham, which will add more penetration to the bowling.
