India’s opener Pratika Rawal has been fined for two instances of avoidable physical contact during the 1st ODI against England Women, even as India convincingly won the match by four wickets.
Rawal Fined for On-Field Behavior During IND W vs ENG W 1st ODI

In the first ODI of the ENG W vs IND W series on Tuesday, Indian opener Pratika Rawal was fined for “avoidable physical contact” with two England players, Lauren Filer and Sophie Ecclestone.
Rawal was guilty of a Level 1 offense under the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players during play.” She was fined 10% of her match fee and awarded one demerit point.
Notes of the Two Incidents
First Incident (18th Over):
Having played a shot off Lauren Filer, Rawal tried a single and made physical contact with the bowler as she made her way towards the non-striker’s end.
Second Incident (19th Over):
Rawal got out to Sophie Ecclestone for 36 off 51 balls. On her way back to the pavilion, she came into contact with Ecclestone, leading to further questioning by match officials.
Rawal’s Impactful Innings in India’s Chase
Before her sacking, Rawal was instrumental in India’s hunt of 259. She put on 48 for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana and then 46 for the second wicket with Harleen Deol.
India went on to win with ten overs to spare, courtesy of a 90-run partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues (48) and Deepti Sharma (62)* for the fifth wicket.
England Fined for Slow Over Rate
Apart from Rawal’s fine, England Women were penalized 5% of their match fee for their slow over-rate. Match officials identified them one over short of their requirement within the given time, though they did not bowl all 50 overs because India won the game early.
