Recently, the ECB and BCCI decided to rebrand the Pataudi Trophy as the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. Before the commencement of the IND vs ENG Test series from 20th June at Headingley, Leeds, this historic decision was made. In a private ceremony for the recent tragedy to be held in Ahmedabad on 19th June, it wil be declared officially.
Pataudi Trophy To Be Renamed
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to retire the Pataudi Trophy and introduce the new Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This decison aims to honour the two legends, England’s James Anderson and India’s Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin insisted to not change the name and continue with the recent Pataudi legacy and in honor to that both the boards heard his request and a special medal honouring the last Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi will be introduced. This honour will be awarded to the winning captain, ensuring the Pataudi legacy continues.
Reason behind the delayed decision
It was decided to hold the event on 14th June but due to the airplane crash tragedy in Ahmedabad which unfortunatly took 275 lives according to the reports and included 50 british nationals, the decision got fuether pushed away.

IND vs ENG
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy (previously, Pataudi Trophy)
When India tours England, the trophy awarded to the winner of the Test series is the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This trophy is newly named but honours two recent legends of the game: England’s pace bowler James Anderson and India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
The trophy was introduced as the Pataudi Trophy in 2007 to mark the 75 years since the first Test match between India and England where India was the first winner. Periodically, while the name of the trophy may now be different, the Pataudi family’s history, notably Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (who played for both Sussex and India as well as being the first captain) will be acknowledged on a special medallion ceremony.
The Anthony de Mello Trophy
When England tours India, the Test series will be played for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. The trophy was established in 1951 in honour of Anthony de Mello, a pivotal figure of Indian cricket, who was a founding member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
