Following the disappointing World Cup Qualifier defeat in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 event in Pakistan, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a new look West Indies squad for the upcoming tour of England. The tour starts on May 21, 2025, with a T20I and ODI series, with the team seeking redemption from recent disappointments.

After a dramatic near-miss in the qualifiers in Pakistan, the West Indies women’s side did not progress to the 2025 World Cup. In an attempt to rebuild and hit the reset button, CWI has made two changes to the 15-member squad ahead of the England series.
Major Changes in the West Indies Squad
In: Realeanna Grimmond (All-rounder), Jahzara Claxton (Pacer)
Replacements: Rashada Williams (wicketkeeper-batter), Chinelle Henry (all-rounder)
The replacements indicate a tactical shift towards bolstering the pace and all-rounder units.
Hayley Matthews to Captain the West Indies Team
The West Indies team will be led by Hayley Matthews, with Shemaine Campbelle as vice-captain. The leadership pair will seek to steer a combination of experienced players and new talent through the difficult English conditions.
Head Coach Shane Deitz: “Let Our Performance Do the Talking”
Speaking before the tour, head coach Shane Deitz stressed the need to support talk with performances.
Traveling to England is a great chance to face one of the world’s top teams. The trash talk is cheap off the pitch; we’re going to take that trash talk on the pitch and go out against England and play some good cricket,” Deitz said.
He was optimistic about the T20I part of the tour, emphasizing the fact that the side has played better in the shortest version of the game in the last 12–18 months. Deitz feels that the tour is a good opportunity for the West Indies team to reclaim its reputation as a world-class team.
