Urvil Patel, who set the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 ablaze by hitting a T20 century in 28 balls against Tripura, again showcased his firepower at the Chennai Super Kings trials. He played two innings:

Despite a stellar domestic run—315 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 229.92—Urvil remains unsold in IPL 2025. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer expressed surprise over his absence from team rosters, hinting at Chennai Super Kings’s interest in grooming him for the future.

I’ve got back room news that CSK have called Urvil Patel. I’m surprised he wasn’t picked by any franchise,” said Jaffer on ESPNCricinfo.

Aman Khan and Salman Nizar Prove Their Metal

Aman Khan, who is an all-rounder, made an impressive cameo during the trials with two sixes, showcasing his capability to finish off innings with a bang.

Salman Nizar, who is new to T20 leagues, has been performing consistently for Kerala, guiding them to the final of the Ranji Trophy this season.

What’s CSK’s Next Move?

With CSK now out of the playoff races, the trials concentrate on the franchise’s methodical movements concerning aggressive team reconstruction. Super Kings will once again face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 3 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
