Abhishek Nayar, Assistant Coach

Poor Performance and Internal Leaks Trigger Shake-Up
India’s 3-1 series defeat in Australia in the BGT 2024-25 was a huge disappointment, particularly as it denied the team a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. In addition to the on-field disappointments, dressing room leaks have been reported, adding to the criticism.
According to Dainik Jagran, the board has been zero-tolerant, undertaking a clean-up to tackle performance and integrity issues.
New Faces Stepping In Ahead of England Tour
The re-jigging of the coaching team is through interim positions and fresh recruitments:
Ryan Ten Doeschate, presently assistant coach, will hold charge of fielding on an interim basis.
South African strength and conditioning specialist Adrian Le Roux, presently attached to Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, will fill the vacancy of Soham Desai.
No one has been officially appointed to replace Abhishek Nayar, as far as is known now.
New Support Staff to Join Before England Test Series
The renewed support staff are likely to join Team India before the important five-match Test series against England, which starts on June 20, 2025. The series will be a litmus test of India’s red-ball credentials after a rocky start to the year.
Rohit Sharma Under Fire, Ashwin Bids Farewell
India’s BGT campaign was dogged by inconsistency and leadership issues. Rohit Sharma, absent for the opening Test due to personal issues, was criticized for his performance and even voluntarily sat out the fifth Test.
