CSK fixed powerplay problems, ended losing streak in IPL

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally fixed their powerplay performance and ended their losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. They defeated Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets and gave fans something to cheer about.

Dropping Conway and Ashwin worked

Chennai made some big changes before the match. They dropped Devon Conway and Ravichandran Ashwin, and brought in Shaik Rasheed and Jamie Overton. These changes were made by Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is leading the team now because Ruturaj Gaikwad is out of the IPL 2025 due to an injury.

The changes worked well. Chennai stopped Lucknow at just 42 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay. While batting, Chennai scored 59 runs for 1 wicket in the first six overs.

Dhoni said, “We made a few changes to make sure our first six overs are better. I feel this team combination is better and gives more options to the captain.”

Dhoni’s calm innings showed his experience

In the end, Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a calm and smart innings. He scored 26 not out and helped Chennai win the match. This was Dhoni’s first IPL ‘Player of the Match’ award since 2019.
