The UP Warriorz stunned the defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-octane match of the WPL 2025, by claiming a win by 12 runs which ultimately knocked the team of Smriti Mandhana out of playoff contention. The match was organized in a jam-packed ground, which saw both teams put up record performances.
While UP Warriorz unleashed a huge 225/4 in its innings, courtesy of Georgia Voll’s firecracker 99* in 60 balls, RCB pushed forward in a chase led by Richa Ghosh’s blistering 69 from 33 balls and a late onslaught from Sneh Rana, however, could finish below 213 in 19.3 overs.
With this loss, RCB’s campaign ends on a disappointing note, as they have lost five of their seven games. The Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians have meanwhile booked their place in the playoffs, joining Delhi Capitals. While RCB still has one remaining league game, it is now just a formality.
RCB’s Struggles Despite a Fierce Chase

Pursuing 226, RCB required a bold beginning, but their innings flopped in the early stages.
The first wicket was lost at just 29 runs and that meant going behind early into the chase. Though the early loss was a blow, Richa Ghosh brought some excitement as she scored her fifty off just 25 balls. Ghosh’s 69 off 33 balls was fiery, keeping RCB in the chase but fell trying to hit a big shot.
And then Sneh Rana took over after the fall of Ghosh, mounting a scintillating counterattack to get RCB back into the game. But the UP Warriorz bowlers got a bit jittery during the death overs. But they managed to restrict Rana’s charge and win a very tight contest.
