Batting first, Delhi put up a challenging total of 193 runs, which seemed quite formidable given the conditions of the pitch and the size of the ground. Anuj Rawat played a stellar knock, smashing 73 runs off just 33 balls, which played a pivotal role in setting a high target for UP. Rawat’s firebrand batting earned him the Player of the Match award, and that inning marked the highlight for Delhi as the day concluded.

To his side was Priyansh Arya at 44, and another young gun of Yash Dhull was at 42, to provide considerable contributions, thereby anchoring the innings of the night and building sufficient partnerships as the scoreboard clicked.

The Delhi team’s total was constructed on a steady progression, but Arya and Dhull’s 53-run partnership in the middle overs was pivotal to accelerate the run rate. UP’s bowling attack, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who started strong with tight bowling, conceding only 28 runs in the first five overs, failed to capitalize on the latter part of the innings for the Delhi batsmen.

The UP team, in their pursuit of 193, faced a difficult task from the outset. Delhi’s bowlers, led by Ishant Sharma, struck early. In the very first over of the chase, Ishant dismissed Karan Sharma, who had been instrumental in UP’s previous victory, providing Delhi with a crucial breakthrough. Ishant continued his dominance.

He bowled a very miserly spell of three overs, conceding only 11 runs, and picked up one key wicket. By the time it was the 10th over, UP had reached only 81 runs. But they had already lost four wickets, of which one was that of Rinku Singh.

Rinku Singh, who was the hero for UP in the previous match and had a match-winning performance, was to lead his team again on the field. He went for just 10 runs, which was an utmost disappointment for the UP side. The mounting required run rate and increasing pressure turned out to be too much for the UP batsmen, and they couldn’t keep up with the required pace.

Priyam Garg Battles Alone as Delhi’s Bowlers Tighten the Choke

Priyam Garg top-scored for UP with 54 runs off 34 balls but the chase never looked even remotely in reach. The required run rate just kept climbing, and wickets fell at regular intervals. UP’s middle and lower order could not really build a partnership and it was the Delhi bowlers who maintained their stranglehold.

Prince Yadav was the standout bowler for Delhi, claiming three wickets and playing a crucial role in breaking the back of the UP chase. In addition to Yadav’s efforts, captain Ayush Badoni and Suyash Sharma each claimed two wickets, further reducing UP’s chances of pulling off a miraculous victory.

Delhi’s Victory Sets Up Semi-Final Clash With Madhya Pradesh

This victory ensured Delhi a place in the semi-finals, and they will face Madhya Pradesh. The match will be an important one for Delhi as they want to keep their dominant form going till the final. In the other semi-final, Mumbai will face Baroda and that promises an exciting end to the tournament.

With performances in all departments, from the explosive batting of Anuj Rawat to a very disciplined bowling effort led by Ishant Sharma and Prince Yadav, Delhi deserved their win over Uttar Pradesh. Despite a spirited fight by Priyam Garg and a few others, UP could not chase the target, leaving Delhi to move into the SMAT semi-finals.

Delhi will look for this momentum to carry through into their next match with Madhya Pradesh, for whom they are eyeing the trophy.
