AUS vs PAK: Australia had the better part of a severely rain-battered first T20I with a win by 29 runs against Pakistan; the game was limited to just 7 overs per side. For a changed format as such, it was certainly aggressive play put together by Australia in both bat as well as with the ball, leaving Pakistan completely vulnerable.
AUS vs PAK: Australia Set a Competitive Total

Mohammed Rizwan won the toss and decided to bowl in overcast conditions at the Gabba, and Australia batted first. It did not take much time for the decision to backfire as the Australian batsmen went on to launch a blistering attack. Glenn Maxwell was the highlight, scoring 43 runs off just 19 balls, with 5 fours and 3 sixes, for his side, taking them to a total of 94/4 in their allotted 7 overs. Marcus Stoinis also balanced well, smashing 21 runs from just 7 balls at a phenomenal strike rate of 300.
Top Order of Pakistan Collapses
This was a batting order that needed to come out with its metal as Pakistan could go for a game of counter-attacking play, one could deduce that the game could very well be decided by aggressive batting. However, it was the Australian bowlers who had other ideas and their top order took little time to unravel. Pakistani top order lost five wickets for just 16 runs.

The middle order failed to stage a comeback and Pakistan was left reeling. Within the final ball, Pakistan has lost 9 wickets while scoring only 64 runs. That swift collapse didn’t leave any answers for the side while Australia sealed a comfortable win.
Australian Bowlers Take Control
The Australians’ bowling was almost unrunnable. Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis both took two-over spells, which sent down three wickets each; Adam Zampa had his share with two wickets, while Spencer Johnson added one more to the list as well. The Australian bowling attack was ruthless, ensuring Pakistan did not get even one inning to chase the modest target.

It was Australia that eventually emerged victorious, winning by 29 runs on a rain-affected day that exposed the vulnerabilities of Pakistan’s batting and left much to think about ahead of the next T20.
