Pakistan (PAK) are currently facing a tough time in home Test matches. They didn’t win a single home game in the last World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, and the current phase isn’t looking any better. The Men in Green are struggling to find their form in red-ball cricket on their own turf.
Pakistan’s problems began with a surprising 10-wicket defeat to Bangladesh at the start of their home season. This loss was a major setback, and it got worse when they lost the second Test as well, resulting in a 0-2 series defeat. These results were unexpected, especially as they were playing at home.
The losing streak has seen Pakistan go through several coaches and even change their captain. Shan Masood took over as captain from Babar Azam and faced his first home series against Bangladesh. Unfortunately, Masood couldn’t lead his team to victory, as PAK were whitewashed 2-0. He is still looking for his first win as captain, showing that the team’s issues run deep.
Pakistan’s Home Test Struggles

Since 2022, PAK has hosted 10 home Tests against top teams like Australia, England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Out of these, they have not won any, with four matches ending in draws. This shows a real problem with their ability to win at home.
The first defeat came against Australia when Pakistan lost the third Test under Babar Azam’s leadership. This loss was the start of their poor run. Things got worse when England toured later in the year and defeated Pakistan in all three Tests, giving them a 0-3 whitewash. The recent 0-2 series loss to Bangladesh has increased Pakistan’s home Test losses to six since 2022, highlighting serious issues in their team.
Pakistan’s Last Test Win at Home
The last time PAK won a Test at home was in early 2021 against South Africa. They won that series 2-0, with a convincing 95-run victory. At that time, it looked like Pakistan would do well in home Tests, but since then, they have struggled to win.
The series against Bangladesh seemed like a good chance to end the losing streak, especially since PAK were playing at home and were considered the favourites. However, despite making changes to their squad, they couldn’t compete well against the visitors. This shows that there are deeper problems within the team that need to be fixed.
Upcoming Challenge: England’s Tour
Pakistan now face a big challenge as they get ready to host England for a three-match Test series starting on October 7. England, known for their aggressive playing style under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, will be tough opponents. PAK will need to improve their performance and rethink their strategy to avoid more defeats and finally end their winless streak at home.
