Since the time of the launch of the T20 tournaments, the whole world has become a fan of the game. With shorter innings, the matches have become more thrilling, engaging and interesting. The records formed during the different T20 World Cups are thus very impressive and unwanted at times. There are many teams who specifically come to play only the T20 tournaments. Although several efforts are made to score the maximum runs, but this is not always possible for a country.
Let’s have a quick look at the lowest number of runs accumulated by a team in a particular innings:
Netherlands – Played Against Sri Lanka in 2014 T20 World Cup- Got All-Out at 39 Runs
This is one of the most embarrassing records formed by a cricket team in international arena. This was the 19th match of the World Cup. After Sri Lanka won the match, they asked Netherlands to bat first. Three wickets were lost in one run by the team and they were unable to gain any recovery beyond this. Lowest score was thus registered and Sri Lanka just needed about 5 overs to meet their small target and win the match.
Netherlands – Played Against Sri Lanka in 2021 – Got All-Out at 44 Runs
Once again, history was repeated between these two teams in 2021. It was the 12th match between the teams and Netherlands were asked to bat first. The Sri Lankan bowlers were excellent and efficient. They gave little scope to the batters and took wickets at regular intervals. Only one player was able to make 11 runs, others were out before they could reach that mark as well. It was very easy for Sri Lanka to win the match and to chase the target once again.
West Indies – Played Against England in 2021 – Got All-Out at 55 Runs
In the last T20 World Cup, it was the 14th fixture where West Indies and England stood against each other on the cricket grounds. The English team had won the toss and asked the West Indies to bat first. The team lost the wickets very fast and then it became very easy for England to rule the field and restrict the batters from scoring runs. England chased the target fast and was able to win the matches as well.
Apart from the above-mentioned teams, the others who scored very low runs in an inning include New Zealand at 60, Scotland at 60 and even Ireland at 68.
