West Indies Pace Attack Bolstered by Akeem Jordan as Jeremiah Louis Suffers Hamstring Injury
The West Indies cricket team has suffered a blow ahead of the crucial third Test against England at Edgbaston. Fast bowler Jeremiah Louis has been ruled out of the contest due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the second Test at Trent Bridge. However there was a silver lining for that Akeem Jordan has been drafted into the squad for his replacement.
While Louis did not get a chance to showcase his skills in the first two Tests a potential opportunity awaited him in the third. Unfortunately with England already securing the Richards-Botham Trophy after a dominant 2-0 lead his injury forced a change of plans. The West Indies team management decided to keep Louis with the squad for further treatment and rehabilitation.
Enter Akeem Jordan, a 29-year-old fast bowler yet to make his Test debut for the Windies. Though lacking Test experience, Jordan boasts a promising first-class record. He has picked up a commendable 67 wickets in just 19 matches, averaging an impressive 24.10. Interestingly, Jordan did make his international debut last year, grabbing a wicket in his first ODI against the UAE. While he could not replicate that success in his following ODI games his raw talent and potential have not gone unnoticed by the West Indies selectors.

Reports suggest Akeem Jordan was already in the UK when he received the call-up. He has wasted no time in integrating himself with the squad and has already begun training at Edgbaston.
With a plethora of talented fast bowlers like Shamar Joseph, Alzarri Joseph, and Jayden Seales at their disposal, the West Indies management might have a selection headache. Given the series is already a lost cause for them, they could consider resting one of their frontline pacers. This upcoming dead rubber presents a perfect opportunity to blood in Akeem Jordan and assess his capabilities on the international stage.
Ian Bishop’s message to the West Indies for the 3rd test match against England, He said
“The guys need to get up now that they can hear me. I understand that it is challenging and that their brilliant first innings score and somewhat surrendered second innings may have taken a toll on their mental stamina.
Nevertheless, Edgbaston is crucial for ongoing education because, as you are well aware, you play as the West Indian people every game. It should be sufficient that you play with pride. And that should be enough to energize you.
