Indian cricketer Axar Patel has dropped five catches after last year’s T20 World Cup. This Indian left-arm spinner has ranked number one in the missed chances category. Another big name to feature on the list is wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik. The 37-year-old has dropped four catches from the matches he has played since the 2021 event.

The third big name is left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. This talented cricketer did not hold on to three catches. A crucial one he had missed in the Asia Cup game against Pakistan would hurt him the most. R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yuzvendra Chahal are three other fielders who have been under the radar in recent times.
India’s best fielders and catching in the World Cup
Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli have been the best fielders in the present Indian team. The duo has become the best bet in fielding standards. A reason they excel is the work ethic that they have put forward in their career. It has become a practice for the duo by now.
The one thing Jadeja definitely brings India is excellent fielding. Since the last World Cup no fielder has contributed more in the field than his +2.64 runs per match. Notably Chahal is India's worst fielder with an impact of -1.88; Kuldeep at -0.85 is not much better. #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/tfmloFWe5d

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who used to be a fine fielder, has dipped his standards in recent times. The 34-year-old has slowed down and has started to field in nearby positions to save himself from running, and to give feedback to bowlers. The hardworking Suryakumar Yadav is one of the emerging talents in saving runs. He has been fielded at deep throwing areas, as he has got a powerful arm.
India is without their best fielder
Men in Blue are competing in the 2022 World Cup in the absence of their best fielder, Ravindra Jadeja, who has been injured, ahead of the competition. The Saurashtra cricketer’s absence is a major missing for the team that aims to kiss the cup after 15 years of wait.

India has to make amends for its fielding approach. Of late, they have missed many chances, and part of it is linked to the saving boundaries. They will look to put on an improved show in the World Cup.
