The teams that have managed to win the maximum number of matches in a calendar year and during any T20 World Cup are specified as follows:
Australia in 2003
Australia had a team that was unbeatable by 2003. While some of the old guards were still there, the addition of new players like Andrew Symonds and the blazing-fast Brett Lee made their team even more potent.
After defeating India in the championship game, they swept to the 2003 World Cup victory. During this time, they also set a current record by winning 21 straight One-Day Internationals.
They ended up winning 38 out of the 47 games that year, for an astounding win-loss ratio of 4.75. In 2003, they triumphed in 30 of the 35 ODIs and 8 of the 12 test matches.
India in 2022
The record for the most victories in a calendar year across all international formats was previously held by Australia in 2003. Team India matched that mark with its 38th victory of 2022. India tied Australia for the most international victories across formats in a calendar year by defeating South Africa in the third One-Day International in Delhi.
India in 2017
2017 was a fantastic year for Team India, led by Virat Kohli. With series victories over England in ODIs and T20s, they kicked off their storied home season of 2017. In March, the Border-Gavaskar trophy was reclaimed.
Only the fact that India lost to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final spoiled their otherwise stellar year because they were unable to win a significant tournament this year.
From the 53 games played in 2017, India finished the year with 37 victories. The winning numbers are as follows: 7 out of 11 Test matches, 21 out of 29 ODI matches, and 9 out of 13 T20 matches.
