David Miller Continues His Peak Form In ODIs Against India. Does India Have Such a Batter?

Aggressive South African batter smashes quick-fire 74 not out against India

David Miller has a special liking towards India. The talented left-handed batter has hit several big scores against the Men In Blue. The 33-year-old hit an unbeaten century in the second T20I. He scored a crucial four-ball 19-run-knock in the third game. He extended his string of providing vital runs to the team by scoring an unbeaten 75 off 63 balls in the first ODI in Lucknow.

The attacking left-hander smashed five fours and three sixes in his 64-ball knock. He added 139 runs with Heinrich Klaasen for the unbroken fifth wicket for the Proteas. This helped the team to register a competitive total of 249/4 in 40 overs. Earlier, they were reeling in trouble at 110/4.

David Miller has a key role in the South African team

The dashing left-hander has a dual duty. He is a finisher and also the person holding the middle order for a considerable time period. As a result, South Africans call him Killer Miller for his exploits in batting.

At present, the Indian team lacks a genuine hitter-cum finisher in their T20I and ODI sides. Indians are trying Dinesh Karthik as an option in the shorter format. Wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson is assigned the same role in the ODIs.

What next for Miller and India?

The South African cricketer will have to play a crucial role in the T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia in two weeks. He will hope to continue his string of decent scores in the perennial event. South Africa had a disappointing series of losses versus India, after coming into the tournament as strong opponents. But Miller had an amazing run in India so far.

India will have to give more chances to players like Sanju Samson so that he gains the crucial skills required for the finisher’s role. David Miller rose to success after being given a lot of chances to prove his mettle as a player.
