‘Usme Sirf Menu Tha’: Ashish Nehra’s Hilarious Reply to Query on his ‘Pen and Paper’ Approach to Coaching in IPL 2022

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans made their debut in IPL 2022 and grabbed the title with a powerful performance throughout the season

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans made their debut in IPL 2022 and grabbed the title with a powerful performance throughout the season. While fans praised Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for his coaching, especially for his “pen and paper” approach.

Nehra could regularly be seen going through a sheet of paper during GT’s matches. Meanwhile, the tournament was still underway, former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra had tweeted how if GT maintained their form, other coaches would also give up laptops and “pick up pen and paper like Nehra Ji.”

In an interview when he was asked about the same, his reply started making rounds. He said that there was nothing on paper and he still does not appreciate why people believed there was something significant on it.

“Paper pe Sirf menu that ki practice pe humara menu kya hoga (It only had a menu for our practice session),” the former Indian international told Cricbuzz.

Further, fans gave Nehra the title of “super coach”. But he abjectly refused it and said that he was just a “spectator” who was sitting outside. He also said that India should be directed on getting the team hybrid right in the run-up to the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

Notably, India is to dispute with Australia in the first of the three-match T20I series at Mohali. Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are also set to make a comeback to international cricket.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya made an enormous comeback in the IPL 2022, captaining Gujarat Titans (GT) to the title victory in the season. He led the side from the front, scoring 487 runs and claiming 8 wickets in the tournament.

Again, after Nehra supported Finch, many supporters and reviewers think that Finch’s decision to withdraw from ODIs arises from his bad performance in that format this year. Before the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which will start in October of this year, he will be looking to get some speed.
