
Chennai Super Kings Secure Rachin Ravindra and Welcome Back Shardul Thakur in IPL 2024 Mini-Auction
In an exciting turn of events at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made significant moves by acquiring New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra for Rs 1.8 crore, while welcoming back India all-rounder Shardul Thakur for Rs 4 crore in the second round.
Rachin Ravindra, the young Kiwi talent, with a base price of Rs 50 lakh, saw spirited bidding initiated by CSK. Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings joined the race, pushing the bidding past the Rs 1 crore mark. Ultimately, Chennai Super Kings, leading the bid, secured Ravindra for Rs 1.8 crore, showcasing their confidence in the emerging player.

On the other hand, Shardul Thakur, the Indian all-rounder, entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Chennai Super Kings commenced the bidding, with Sunrisers Hyderabad entering the fray. Despite SRH briefly stepping back at Rs 3.20 crore, they re-entered the bid. Chennai Super Kings persevered and secured Thakur for Rs 4.00 crore, marking a significant addition to their squad.
In another notable move, Sunrisers Hyderabad signed Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this year, for Rs 1.50 crore.
