New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is confident that his team will regain their momentum in the second Test against Bangladesh after a challenging defeat in Sylhet. In the first Test, Bangladesh exhibited top form, securing a comfortable victory by a margin of 150 runs. Sodhi remains optimistic about the upcoming match in Mirpur, expressing belief in the team’s ability to quickly recover from setbacks.
“The great success this team’s had over the past decade has been being able to park these sort of things quickly, whether its success or loss,” Sodhi remarked. Despite the tough loss in Sylhet, he saw progress in the team’s rhythm as the Test unfolded.

Sodhi, who had a subdued performance in the first Test, acknowledges the challenges of adapting to the conditions. “I haven’t played Test cricket in a while, so it’s always going to be tough in these conditions.” However, he emphasizes the importance of swift adaptation when the team comes together.
Reflecting on Bangladesh’s success, Sodhi believes they provided a blueprint for success in the conditions. “The way that Bangladesh played, they certainly outplayed us. But upon reflection, I think they gave us a blueprint on what’s successful in these conditions, and hopefully, we can apply that to this next Test match.”
Looking ahead, Sodhi emphasizes working in partnerships and enhancing accuracy as key elements for New Zealand’s bowling group. The team aims to learn from the first Test, making strategic adjustments for a stronger performance in the upcoming match.
